Early Saturday Evening trip to Uptown.
FlowFeel staffers take a trip to Uptown - well Argyle St. We want some cheap Asian Food. It will be plentiful. We walk up Broadway from Lawrence. Burnt-out bums, pre-teen punks and Mexican day-laborers dot the gritty urban landscape. Uptown feels urban - a real, gasping for air, dripping with character urban micro-system. Broadway foot traffic levels off heading north. We stroll past the Asian mini-mall as the Red Line pulls all ears to hear her bitching moan. We meet up with Argyle. An ethnic enclave is upon us. Some of us have only been past here on the road or train. Inspiring, adventurous, lovely in a bustling metropolis vibe. Which spot to choose? 10 legit chooses. Asian - Vietnamese, we gotta get Vietnamese. But first into trinket and narrow grocery store. Loads of novelty crap we could spend 20 bucks on at $1 a pop. We all refrain. I stand at the door watching potpourri Chicago come home from Saturday afternoon. I see a girl i recognize from my hometown across the street - very odd. We don't know each other. The poor and mobile pass side by side - Asian immigrants, Mexican cooks, Urban pioneers and hip-hoppin' dads pass in front of the 'El' doors. One man in doorway of narrow-novelty Vietnamese grocery aching for a bowl of egg noodles with chicken.
